Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How tall is the building?

A: Both the east and west towers are the same height. The roof stands at 280 feet, and the top of the parapet goes up to 320 feet. Each tower houses 19 floors, with two levels of mechanical on top of each tower. The last occupiable floor is on level 17, at 238 feet.

 

Q: Are you building shops or restaurants that will be available to the public?

A: Yes - the program will include mostly publicly available retail spaces for shops, as well as new food and beverage outlets. These will be available to the public as well as Disney’s employees. This building was designed to be part of the fabric of Hudson Square, and will be a great amenity to the neighborhood.

 

Q: How long will construction last? When will this project be done?

A: The project will take four and a half years and the new building will open in 2024. The main phases are demolition, excavation and foundations and construction.

 

Q: Will there be any blasting on site?

A: No blasting will take place on site

 

Q: What are your hours of construction?

A: We will be working standard hours for NYC construction projects: During the work week, 7:00am - 6:00pm Saturdays 9:00am - 5:00pm

 

Q: Will you be working overtime?

A: There may be occasions when we will need to work overtime, for example when some equipment, such as cranes, need to be transported onsite overnight or site utility work.

 

Q: What about bike lanes?

A: There are bike lanes on Spring and Hudson Streets. The bike lane on Spring Street between Varick and Hudson Streets will be moved to the south side of the street. There will be no impact to the bike lane on Hudson Street.

 

Q: What are you doing to mitigate noise during construction?

A: As people who live and work in the neighborhood we are aware of the inportance of noise and air quailty. This will be a clean construction site, and we will do everything we can to keep the construction noise leve down, and limited to normal working hours.
