  • Michael May is a founder and the President of Silverstein Capital Partners (“SCP”) and oversees all lending operations.  SCP has committed over $1.6 billion on office, industrial, residential, retail, hospitality and mixed-use projects in urban markets.  SCP provides senior loans, bridge loans, subordinate loans, and rescue capital to borrowers on shovel-ready ground-up construction, heavy value-add repositioning, lease-up projects, land, and inventory loans on completed condominium projects.  SCP’s funds are capitalized by two global institutional investors and Silverstein Properties, Inc.  SCP also has an active separate account business.

    Previously, Mr. May was a founder and Chief Operating Officer of Cantor Commercial Real Estate (“CCRE”), where he led the origination of than $50+ billion of commercial real estate loans.  Mr. May was responsible for raising institutional and private capital, sourcing corporate financing, high-yield bond raises, loan origination, loan distribution, and securitization for the venture.  From its creation in 2010, CCRE closed 2,000+ financings on all property types in 50 US states, 3 US territories, Mexico, and the Caribbean.  Mr. May oversaw conduit, transitional, large-loan, small-balance, single borrower, Agency, and net-lease lending as well as a $58 billion servicing book.

    Prior to CCRE, Mr. May was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse (“CS”) where he was a senior member of the Real Estate Finance Group.  Mr. May joined CS in 1997 and oversaw West Coast and Latin American operations including the origination and distribution of CMBS, whole loans, and subordinate debt.  Mr. May originated $20+ billion in financings and innovated numerous CMBS products including securitization structures for condominiums, construction, ski mountains, and casinos.

    Before CS, Mr. May worked at General Electric Capital Corporation where he focused on the acquisition of subordinated CMBS and the structured distribution of whole loans, asset backed securities, and real estate equity.  Mr. May also spent seven years at Arthur Andersen LLP in the Real Estate Consulting Group, working in the US, Western Europe, Russia, and Latin America providing advice on project feasibility, loan valuations, securitization structuring, and workout strategies.

    Mr. May holds a BS in Finance and a BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park.

     

  • Shawn Katz

  • Shawn Katz is Senior Managing Director of Silverstein Capital Partners.  He joined the company shortly after its inception and is actively involved in managing all aspects of the business including originations, execution, portfolio management and investor relations.

    Prior to joining Silverstein, Shawn was Managing Partner and co-founder of KUB Capital, where he led the company with an emphasis on acquisitions, investment strategy, capital markets and financial management.  While at KUB, Shawn sourced and executed ground-up development projects throughout New York City, including 150 Wooster in Soho, Manhattan and Wythe Lane Townhouses in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. 

    Before co-founding KUB, Shawn was Senior Vice President at Rosemont Realty, where he managed the company’s acquisition department and was a member of the company’s investment committee. During his tenure at Rosemont, Shawn sourced and underwrote acquisitions across a variety of asset classes and directed all of the company’s research, property evaluation and analytics. Shawn also served as President of a Rosemont subsidiary company, managing 2 million square feet of commercial real estate and supervising portfolio management, investor relations and back-office functions. Shawn started his career as a member of the investment team at Wolf International, an investment management and advisory firm specializing in alternative investments.

    Shawn holds a BA in Business Administration and Communications from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

  • Tyler Hasemann joined Silverstein Capital Partners in 2019 and currently serves as Director where he is responsible for sourcing and executing credit investment opportunities. Prior to joining SCP, Mr. Hasemann was a member of the capital markets team at Eastdil Secured in San Francisco, focusing on debt placement and advisory services across all asset classes. He began his career at CCRE, a commercial real estate finance affiliate of Cantor Fitzgerald where he focused on loan originations. Mr. Hasemann holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from the University at Albany.

  • Christina Do joined Silverstein Capital Partners as the Head of Asset Management in January 2021 to lead asset management efforts for SCP’s debt portfolio.

    Prior to joining SCP, Ms. Do led Hillcrest Finance LLC’s origination and asset management team and was responsible for the origination, underwriting, and asset management of Hillcrest’s debt investments.  Prior to Hillcrest, Ms. Do was an Executive Director and Assistant Portfolio Manager at PGIM Real Estate, where she was involved in portfolio management of PGIM’s open-ended debt fund as well as the origination and asset management of mezzanine debt investments.  Before PGIM, Ms. Do was a Managing Director in the investments group at Square Mile Capital where she focused on real estate debt and equity investments.  Ms. Do was also a Managing Director at SL Green Realty Corp, where she focused on acquisitions and led the investment of debt opportunities.  Ms. Do. started her career as an attorney in the real estate group at Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn.

    Ms. Do received a BS in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University and a JD from Rutgers University School of Law.

  • Bill Gakidis is Vice President at Silverstein Capital Partners and is responsible for real estate debt origination, underwriting, and asset management.

    Prior to joining SCP, Mr. Gakidis was an associate at Garrison Investment Group, an opportunistic real estate investment firm, where he focused on underwriting potential new equity and debt investments. Mr. Gakidis also previously worked at Spring11 (NKF Subsidiary), an underwriting and due diligence consultant firm and Redwood Trust, a publicly traded mortgage REIT. Mr. Gakidis has experience underwriting real estate debt and equity transactions across all major asset classes.

    Mr. Gakidis earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Connecticut.

     

  • Alex Tan

  • Alex Tan joined Silverstein Capital Partners in 2022 and currently serves as a Vice President where he is responsible for real estate debt origination, underwriting, and asset management.

    Prior to joining SCP, Mr. Tan was a member of the Acquisitions team at Paramount Group in New York City, focusing on new equity opportunities and debt originations on Class A office in New York City, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Mr. Tan also previously worked at Jones Lang Lasalle as a member of their investment sales and capital markets advisory group, and began his career at Site Centers (formerly DDR, Corp.), a publicly traded retail REIT as a member of their Asset Management team. 

  • Max Bent

  • Max Bent joined Silverstein Properties as a Vice President in construction group in December of 2021 with a primary focus on construction oversight and due diligence for Silverstein Capital Partners projects.

    Prior to joining Silverstein Properties, Mr. Bent worked in the development and construction group at JBG Smith, a DC area focused REIT. At JBGS, Mr. Bent focused primarily on their current pipeline of development projects in and around the Amazon HQ2 Campus in Northern Virginia. Prior to JBGS, Mr. Bent was the lead Development Project Manager for KUB Capital, where he oversaw ground up development projects in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Before KUB Capital, Mr. Bent started his carrier at Uberto Construction, where he ran a number of their high-end residential construction projects, primarily on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Mr. Bent holds a BA in Economics & International Relations from Boston University.

  • Cameron Parker joined Silverstein Capital Partners as an Associate in October 2021 and is responsible for real estate debt origination, underwriting, and asset management.

    Prior to joining SCP, Mr. Parker was an associate at 3650 REIT, a CRE lending, investment management and services firm, where he focused on originating and underwriting fixed rate loans. Mr. Parker also previously worked at Spring11 (NKF Subsidiary), an underwriting and due diligence consultant firm and The Bank of New York Mellon’s CRE lending platform.

    Mr. Parker earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Fairfield University.

  • Alexei Zouev joined Silverstein Capital Partners as an Analyst in 2021 and is responsible for assessing new investments and performing underwriting and due diligence.

    Prior to joining SCP, Mr. Zouev was a member of the International Capital Markets team at Newmark where he worked with global institutions on their US-centric investments. Some of his completed transactions include Mapletree's acquisition of Uptown Station (Oakland), a Japanese UHNW's purchase of 434 Broadway (New York), and Pontegadea's purchase of Arbor Blocks (Seattle). Mr. Zouev previously worked on Newmark's San Francisco Capital Markets team and at Spring11.
    Mr. Zouev holds a BA in Economics and City Planning from The University of California, Berkeley. He is actively involved in the Urban Land Institute and the Berkeley Real Estate Alumni Association (BREAA).
